Inspired by the FSA photographers that portrayed the “Great Depression” in the United States almost 80 years ago, project Sea Change documents the lives of young Europeans in the wake of the financial crisis. The medium of photography manages to express a transnational uncertainty in an intensity and multiformity.
With the invitation of the house of literature in Oslo, internationally renowned photographers from thirteen European countries managed to create a provocative tapestry of images through which themes like migration, political extremism, the role of Islam in Europe and unemployment are being visualised.
The 'Literarisches Colloquium Berlin' is the first stop after Oslo to show the exhibition which is accompanied by a book. The venue focuses on the work of Portugal, Spain, Greece, Malta and Germany; in the context of the long-term series “The White Sea”, jointly organised by the Allianz Cultural Foundation and the LCB.
Following a discussion round and opening speech, the Norwegian Embassy invites to a small reception.
